Mount Pleasant is a small and quaint town located in eastern Cabarrus County with the town center located at the crossroads of Mount Pleasant Road and Highway 73. Highway 49 is also located on the edge of Mount Pleasant, making commuting to nearby cities of Charlotte, Albemarle and Concord possible and convenient. Current population counts for the town of Mount Pleasant stand at 1,425, but growth is highly anticipated with the completion of several major highways around the area.
Mount Pleasant was founded in 1848 and is home to the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Museum. With restored building and the museum, the town is proud of their preserved heritage. In the 1800’s Mount Pleasant was a stop for many wagons travelling from Concord to Salisbury. It is located near the Reed Gold Mine.
The town includes three schools: Mount Pleasant Elementary School, Mount Pleasant Middle School, and Mount Pleasant High School, which serves most of the families of eastern Cabarrus County and is a part of the Cabarrus County School District. The Cabarrus County Schools District is know for it’s excellence in education with all seniors completing graduation projects and presentations before receiving a diploma. Students in this district usually receive higher than average scores compared to state education averages.
Mount Pleasant also contains two small parks with areas for play and picnics. The town hosts many community events, including an annual Independence Day Celebration and Christmas Parade. The area is full of trees, wide open spaces and a perfect place to take Sunday afternoon drives with the family.
