Union County Real Estate

Union County sits on the southern edge of North Carolina Piedmont region with Cabarrus County bordering the North and Lancaster and Chesterfield Counties to the south in South Carolina. Established in 1842, Union County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state of North Carolina and provides a blend of rural and metropolitan lifestyles. There are acres and acres of undeveloped land, alongside growing suburban and industrial growth. It is estimated that Union County has 155,000 residents and 643 square mile of land.

Union County in governed by a commissioner/manager form of government with five commissioners elected countywide with an appointed county manager. The county is divided into nine townships: Goose Creek, Jackson, Marshville, Monroe, New Salem, Vance, Buford, Lanes Creek, and Sandy Ridge. It includes several towns, most notably: Indian Trail, Mineral Springs, Monroe (County Seat & Largest City), Stallings, Waxhaw and Weddington.

Union County Real Estate- Events and Recreation

Brooklandwood in the Union County town of Mineral Springs is the site of the Queens Cup Steeplechase, one of horse racing's major annual events. Over 10,000 people descend on Mineral Springs from all parts of the country to take part in this day long event of races and other activities. The Union County town of Marshville is the site of the Boll Weevil Festival, an annual street fair and carnival that takes place every year.

Union County is also home to Cane Creek—an athletic complex and camping area and Fred Kirby Park. These parks contain softball, soccer, baseball, and softball fields. There is also camping available with 108 campsites and boat ramps and docks. Union County is also home to an excellent library system with weekly programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, monthly programs for school age children and a Summer Reading Program.
