Cabarrus county real estate is located to the north east of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, the nearest metro center. Cabarrus County has about 364 square miles of land or in terms of real estate, that’s over 230,000 acres!

Cabarrus County has homes for sale in 12 distinct townships but the use of some of these names is more prevalent than others. For the most part, people generally consider Cabarrus County real estate to be divided up into Concord Real Estate which is the the county seat. Kannapolis Real Estate is to the north, then to the south west is Harrisburg Real Estate. Mount Pleasant Real Estate is to the east and due south you'll find Midland Real Estate. Other townships less commonly thought of (and less organized than the cities above) are Poplar Tent, Odell, New Gilead, Rimertown, Gold Hill, Georgeville, and Central Cabarrus.

Real estate values in Cabarrus County are expected to take another small dip, along with the rest of the nation but outlook is hopeful that we will not see the same sharp declines as are projected for some real estate outside of Cabarrus County.

Cabarrus County History

Cabarrus county real estate became official in 1792 on December 29th when a portion of land was cut of the then larger Mecklenburg County. They named Cabarrus County after Stephen Cabarrus who was the speaker of the NC House and thus, a new county was formed. Among the many notable Cabarrus county events, Conrad Reed was the first person to discover gold in America and it was found on a parcel of Cabarrus County real estate that he owned. Although he used the first Gold nugget as a door stop for several years, then he later realized what it was and eventually, formed Reed’s Gold Mine. Cabarrus County that Reed owned was so great, that a mint had to be built at a nearby parcel of Charlotte real estate to hold it all. Today, the gold is gone but the site of the old mine is a tourist attraction for Cabarrus County School students and students from schools all across the region.
